ABOUT US

So as the story goes, some people will tell you that they always knew what they wanted to do. I found drafting and design by accident. Ever since I graduated from high school, I have worked at many jobs in construction. I started out working for an electrician as a helper, then I worked for a carpenter as a helper. after that I worked for a flooring company installing many different types of flooring. With each job, I took something with me, whether it was product information or construction information or just a general recognition of a part of the construction process.

I found myself working for a builder that built high end residential homes. I was a general laborer and would do anything from assisting frame and finish carpenters to pushing a broom or driving truck or running errands. On one project in particular, I was tasked with updating what is now known as material data sheets. My boss was in the other room struggling to convert an architect's door schedule sheets into something he could give to the suppliers to quote the doors. I offered to help. I was generally good with computers so I started to teach myself with a trial version of AutoCAD. After that, I looked for every opportunity to use my newly found CAD skills. In the years that followed, I went back to school at night to get my degree in computer aided drafting and design. In 2016, I graduated. I found that I had done the process in reverse, gaining experience before education.

With each job, with each project, I have learned something, whether it be technical or some insight into the process from someone else's perspective . I take what I learned and apply it the next time I design, trying to keep the end users and their needs in perspective.  When I sit down with you to go over your project, we start a dialogue. It is important to listen to the needs of the customer. This cannot be over stated. I offer advice but also recognize it is important to remember that I will not be living in the house. We create a list based on the needs and wants and we try to incorporate as much of that list that budget and space will allow. I strive to give to the best design you can get for the space. Please consider Waite Residential Design Company for your next residential project.
